Sailorjupiter is the fourth sailor-suited fighter to appear in the anime and the fifth to appear in the manga (Sailor V had already debuted in Codename wa Sailor V). For a brief time she battles along with just Sailormoon, Sailormars, and Sailormercury. Shortly after, Venus joins the group and the senshi team is complete. Sailorjupiter is often paired with Sailorvenus in combat during the first few seasons of the anime. The two have a special ability to work in (nearly) perfect harmony, leading to the defeat of many a villain. In the later seasons Sailorjupiter seems to be pushed aside as new senshi enter the scene, particularly with the addition of Sailoruranus.
The very first time she appears on screen, Sailorjupiter demonstrates her tough fighting style by destroying a youma that threatens a boy she likes. Even while still in civilian form, she isn't afraid to defend someone. In the manga she overcomes a powerful spell and single-handedly kills Nephrite.
Sailorjupiter is arguably the most powerful of Serenity's guardians in terms of offense (if Sailormoon is not included). Sailormars and Sailorvenus are close competitors. She is usually the one to strike first at a villain while the others evolve a strategy. With the powers of lightning and thunder by her side, she fights evil with a passionate fury. She is quick with her hands (like anyone who is a good cook), and can easily fight without her powers. In the first season of the anime, she is left alone battling Prince Endymion where not once does she call upon the powers of Jupiter. This clearly portrays her unbelievable courage.
Sailorjupiter has a tendancy to jump into action without thinking of the possible outcomes first. Most often she is able to scrape by, but sometimes it is a downfall, as seen in the final battle with Queen Beryl. She places her heart before her mind, her values before her safety. She acts on impulse rather than taking time to reflect.
Later on in the series, Sailorjupiter calls on the powers of nature (a list of her attacks can be found here). No mercy is shown to anyone who harms her or her friends. She has even killed several monsters by herself. Love for a friend is tested in Sailormoon R when she fights and defeats a daemon alone. In the first season she destroys one of Queen Beryl's minions during the final battle, although during this showdown she eliminates herself as well.
Sailorjupiter proves herself a worthy adversary, and more than lives up to her title The Soldier of Protection.
